This Week…

Hi Ladies!  Just wanted to let you know we will be away from the computers for a week.  I will do my best to keep up, but no promises until Saturday:).

The best way to reach us will still be email for this week.

Hangers are still available in the same location as last year.

Oh!  I almost forgot!  We are accepting Junior sized clothing.  This means 0, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11.  Ladies, this does NOT mean “ladies” clothing…just juniors.  We’re gonna give this a try first.

Have a great week!

LET IT BEGIN!

Well, here it is…time for the Fall/Winter sale!  Whoo-Hoo!  Yes the temperatures are at a steady 100, but now is as good a time as any in South Georgia to get those sweaters and such…HA!

So here is the “skinny”…we have acquired a new space.  WOW! and PRAISE THE LORD!  The gentlemen we are working with have been kind and are patiently dealing with the idea of  us :).  For some reason, I don’t think they know who we are (insert shock and gasp here) hehehehe.  So, the challenge is again going to remain the same.   The space is to return to them same or better condition.  Ladies, it’s because you help us out here, that we have found favor in as many landlord’s eyes as we have.  Thank You so much!  These owners take a chance on a seasonal business like us and we want to continue to have a good reputation…so let’s keep it up!  Ready?  The new space is twice as large as last sale…yep, we doubled the square footage!  We are now at 14,000 sq. ft!!!  And it’s beautiful!  Concrete floors, vaulted ceiling, wood fixtures, task lighting, shelving, and a large receiving area at floor level!!!!  (ok, so no water fountain, but we still love it!)  It’s the old American Outdoors building on 82/Dawson Rd.  Yep, that’s right…it’s a stand alone building!!!!  Our own parking lot!!!!!  I’m sure I’m using too many exclamation points, but we are thrilled!  We hope you are too…the convenience should be lovely.  Now, we will admit, this is a major step of faith for us.  None of this is coming free and our husbands are not excited about the vast amount of withdrawls in the budget without any increase in registration fees; so, this is where you come in. ( Please let me interject…they (our husbands) will also be quick to say they were the ones who kept asking if we had made the call about this building:)…thanks guys!)  As I was saying, we need you to sell stuff and bring in new consignors.  We are keeping the fee at $5 and the percentage at 70.  We just did not get an “ok” to change  it, so please help us out.  Print out the flyer and post it wherever you have permission.  Facebook your friends.  Tweet about your progress.  Talk it up in church and the work place and the neighborhood.  Remember this is the sale for all those fantastic buys!  Halloween costumes for under $10, doll houses for under the Christmas tree, bicycles, holiday accessories for October, November, December, and February…the list goes on!

Housekeeping…take notice of the new Dates/Times of the sale.  Sale dates are a week earlier than normal and receiving begins the first weekend in August.  With all this space we must have the extra time to organize and reinventory.  When you look at the dates, you’ll see what i mean.  This is GREAT for our consignors though.  You will have the entire evening to shop, Monday!   We hope it is a great time of estrogen filled giggles HA!   Now, with that, please notice under “tagging instructions” that we will NOT take cribs.  Really, NO CRIBS.  They are now illegal to resell.  We will begin taking cribs again after some time, but for now, no.  Not all the manufacturers or retail stores have caught up with the new regulations…nevermind the resellers!  We are heart broken for our mamas who always get such beautiful cribs at incredible prices with us, but we can’t do it.  Please note too, that there have been several recalls on nursery supplies so be sure to check out the “recalls” section under “consignors” and “tagging” in the menu.  If you are selling a carset, it must be under 5 years old, so the paperwork or the date must be on the seat.  Please use the manufacturer number to make sure it has not been recalled.  That goes for your pack n’ plays and other infant items as well.  Please use due diligence in this.  You do sign an agreement stating the items you are selling are safe for the consumer. Also, we know that fall and winter sports require shorts and t-shirts, so those type of clothing items will be allowed.  But remember the cute summer stuff sells better in the spring/summer sale.  No girls tanks and cute short outfits with little bathing suits on them…we PROMISE those will sell better in the next sale.  Yes, short sleeve items and some shorts will be allowed, we know it’s hot for a long time, but PLEASE don’t make us out to be the bad guys…if you got it for Easter, wait.

Well, you have already entered over 1000 items into inventory and at this rate you will exceed your 24,000+ items entered from last sale.  Ladies, you amaze us.  We know this is an incredible blessing for most of you…it is for us.  We so look forward to seeing you again in just a few weeks.  Please feel free to comment or email us anytime.  We’ll get to you as soon as we can.

Happy tagging!   -Dee

Ummmm…

A friend of mine asked me to use one word to describe Thursday…I said “smooooth“.  Today’s word was more like “overwhelming”.  Ummmm…ya’ll got a lot of stuff!!!!  And much is FABULOUS!  (yeah, you just thought of it, Sharpay singing “FAAAB-U-LOUS!”  you know you did!)

Ok, for those of you who came tonight…THANK YOU!!!…you were so kind and patient!  It was like a little consignment tail gate party out there:).  Kids were playing (maybe that was whining), mamas were talking, daddy’s were wondering how long this was going to take…oh my!  For those of you who have waited until tomorrow we’re hoping you will all not come at the same time :).  I think the average wait time to get into the store was 90 minutes tonight.  We were handing out numbers before we opened!  Yeah, NEVER been like this before!  We even had some of our unscheduled volunteers come to the rescue…thanks ladies!  So, normally (although nothing about this sale has been NORMAL!), Saturday’s are steady.  We see as many consignors on Saturday as we do Thursday and Friday combined.  Which means we double our inventory on Saturday.  Now, for those who were in there tonight…you know what that means…we are busting out of some rooms!  Renee and I have reshuffled much of the items so no worries, we have space for all your treasures.  We’ll reshuffle after receiving ends again:).

So, for all you Saturday receivers…”HEAR YE! HEAR YE!”  Come to the back of the store, if there is a volunteer available…you’re golden!  If not, please take a number on the chair (you’ll see them).  It gets warm in there, so you’ll want to wait at your car (hence the tailgating).  While you are at your car and if you can, please make sure your items are in INVENTORY NUMBER ORDER!  That will make things go MUCH smoother.  Also, have your inventory reports with you…and could you put your name on them?  Thanks.  Checking in takes no time at all if you’re in order…it’s just getting to the check in point! 🙂  When you leave, make sure you have your ticket and parking information, and you’ve signed the green agreement.  You’re good!

We will NOT be at our computers the entire day…you can contact us at the store.  OH!  And for those who have an appointment, you DO NOT have to get a number…just tell us you’re there and have an appointment.  Now, if you are over 15 minutes late, you forfeit your appointment time and have the opportunity to get a number like the rest.

Ok, I think that’s it for today.  We look forward to seeing you in a couple hours!  Dee 🙂

Day one of Receiving…CHECK!

Well…3 hours and 2500 items later…we’re off!  17 hours left to bring your inventory!  And can I tell you the cute level of some of these items!!!!  It ALMOST makes me want another baby…ummmm  probably NOT the right reason :).

Ok, for those whom I have confused, you DO NOT need an appointment if you have less than 175 items…no worries.  And YES, we invite friends and family and former shoppers and neighbors and strangers to shop Tuesday night at 7:30 til 9:00.  ONLY THOSE WITH A TICKET WILL BE ALLOWED TO ENTER AT 5…YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!  You will receive this “golden ticket” (no, not really gold) after you fill out your paper work and place your items in the store and see a volunteer.  Oh, and please come to the back of the building for receiving.  We’ll all be there and if there is a line, there will be numbers on notecards to keep your place…take one.

Finally…DON’T FORGET YOUR INVENTORY REPORT!!!!

It’s Time!

Ok…really????

You ladies are cracking me up!  I can only imagine the chaos in your home right now because YOU HAVE BEEN BUSY!!!!  These last 2 days you’ve entered thousands of items…yes, that’s not a typo…2 days and THOUSANDS of items later.  We are going to have an incredible sale!  Just maybe this is going to be worth cleaning that urinal (ok, probably not, but how many of you can say you’ve had the “opportunity” to clean a public urinal?  HAhahahahaha!).  Yes, the joy of consignment ownership has now placed me in the elite of urinal cleaners…this is how God keeps me where I need to be ;).  Oh, and if anyone needs someone who knows how to swing a Swiffer and scrub a floor…just ask.

Enough rambling, let’s get to business…Receiving begins later today (HA!) and we are booked, so for those of you coming without an appointment, please be patient.  Give yourself an hour to get here, unload, set up, and place on the floor.  For those who are brining lots of clothes, you will be able to take a rack to your car (there is a ramp), but be careful driving (cars and racks).  There are holes in the asphalt where the plumbers had to dig.  For those of you who have large items in a truck (this does not include SUV’s), there is a loading dock in the back.  Feel free to use it, but let us help you…it’s high and meant for an 18 wheeler.  Parking is tight…please be careful backing out to leave.  There are yellow poles everywhere and Renee and I have come perilously close to them…LOOK WHEN BACKING!!!!

Things to remember…YOUR INVENTORY REPORT!!!!!!  YOUR INVENTORY REPORT!!!!!!!  YOUR INVENTORY REPORT!!!!!!  Please don’t forget your inventory report :).  We do not have internet or a printer at the store.  When at receiving, you will sign the Seller’s Agreement (green paper).  It says you know nothing has been recalled, the $5 selling fee will be taken out of your check, you expect 70% of your sales, and the date to pick up unsold items and your check.  There are a few other things on there too…please make sure you read and sign it before leaving.  We will also have a handout (now I sound like a teacher) discussing parking.  PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE OF OUR NEIGHBORS!  PetSupermarket has been GREAT and we want to respect their spaces.  Please stay out of the front spaces to the building.  Use the spaces around the back of the building.  The hand out will fill you in on parking for Tuesday but we are encouraging ALL to carpool!!!!

Alright, it looks like this is going to be the biggest and best yet!  Maybe you’ll even be able to move the clothes on the racks (well, one can wish).  Can you tell it’s 1AM?  And this is our early night!  See you soon!
